Who is Tom? What is his story?
Hello!
Nearly 15 years ago as a family we came together and bought a property in London as an investment and a way to save on extortionate rent whilst I was at university. Little did I know, this would be the start into my property investment journey. We subsequently bought, renovated and sold several apartments there, which developed my knowledge in DIY, project management of trades and working with the myriad of property professionals that are essential to property investing.
My life has been powered by passion and funded by property investment.
For nearly 10 years, this allowed me to fulfil many passions such as travelling the world, volunteering in several countries, take on fund-raising projects such as my 600 mile walk of the Welsh coast with my dog Tegwen for ParkinsonsUK, I’ve lived in Bolivia and France where I became fluent in Spanish and French, and also set up an events business to help language learners meet and connect. With my passion for rugby, I set up a successful, inclusive rugby club in South West London. I’m an avid outdoors enthusiast too, so I spend a lot of my spare time enjoying all that North Wales has to offer.
However, in the past few years I’ve invested a lot in education, found some excellent mentors and built a mixed portfolio of buy-to-lets, serviced accommodation and some commercials. I’m now focusing on bigger purchases such as buy-to-let portfolios, chapel conversions, old hotels and small new-build plots.
The ultimate goal, and the main reason for moving to Anglesey is to create North Wales Retreats
Outdoor and wellness focused retreats of varying sizes, places that provide a community and activities such as yoga, meditation and outdoor activities for people to connect with themselves, others and with the beautiful nature of Wales.
Another big passion of my mine which aligns with helping others, is the creation of events. Originally from Wrexham, when I arrived back in North Wales in early 2023,
I realised there was no central hub for the property world of North Wales & there developed the idea for Smart Property Network.
A monthly networking event and space for the property world to foster more innovation and collaboration into the area.
It’s a very exciting time and I’m happy to share my journey with others, help others invest and ultimately provide security for my family. My sister is pursuing a career in the arts and my Dad wants to retire earlier, and I hope to support them as best I can.
My advice will always be to follow your passions, help others and fight the status quo.

Ellen
Ellen, my sister, helps me with all manner of things. Whether it’s office admin, supporting all my ventures or helping me run my networking event, Smart Property Network.
Recently finished at university, she already has a successful career working on film sets. She has a passion for travelling, acting and being creative.
She’s kind, patient and works hard.
Phil
Phil, my Dad, helps me with viewings, property maintenance and project management of my renovations.
Dad is a sales rep for luxury bedrooms, he knows how to sell and connect with people with an honest and genuine approach. His passions are for the outdoors, sailing and his family.
He’s a grafter, friendly and supportive.
Power team
Your ‘power team’ is your team of property professionals such as your mentors, consultants, brokers, solicitors, letting agents, architects, surveyors, quantity surveyors etc. The list is long!
Some are better for certain property projects or aspects of business than others, so it’s good to have a choice of each one.
I’m happy to advise or suggest professionals if you need them for North Wales, and most likely know of someone who knows someone for other parts of the country!
